September is almost over and the FAFSA is about to come online, high school seniors and parents are experiencing some “concern” about the financial aid aspect of paying for college. If you don’t receive enough help, you might not be able to attend your dream college so that cannot accomplish your dreams. What are types of college financial aid deadlines? There are at least three types of financial aid deadlines and you have to complete the proper applications on time for vast quantities of financial aid, but you might miss those opportunities if you don’t submit your application on time.

1. The FAFSA: The FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, will be available online beginning October 1, 2017 for the 2018-2019 academic year. Some programs have limited funding. Once that money has been disbursed, you might miss out on a source of funding. You need to submit it as soon as possible.

2. State Financial Aid: Many states offer financial aid programs which are separate from the federal financial aid opportunities. You can find out if you qualify for most state financial aid programs by completing the FAFSA. In California, 2018-2019 Cal Grant award, you must have completed both of these application requirements by March 2, 2018: 1. FAFSA or a 2018-2019 California Dream Act Application (CADAA) 2. A certified Grade Point Average (GPA)

3. College Financial Aid: Most colleges have their own grants and scholarships that are awarded to potential students to help offset anticipated expenses, but these also have deadlines. Check your college websites for this information, you can find out that these come in many forms, and have their own deadline requirements.
